Līgo/Jāņi 2016 Events (in English)

Saturday, June 18th 4pm at the Latvian House, 425 Hoffman Ave, San Francisco

Concert of the Latvian band “Lauku muzikanti”. 
Everyone is welcome to bring “Jāņuzāles” – any flowers/grass and food for a potluck. We will have the concert, singing, flower crown contest and “Jāņu” cheese contest.
Donation $15, kids free.

Saturday, June 25th, starting at 6pm, 1599 Old Rancheria Rd, Nicasio, CA

“Jāņi in the countryside”
Midsummer celebration in a private meadow without cell phone coverage, but with fun Latvian style!
Starting from 6pm – tent building, flower crown making.
Around 8pm – “Saying good-bye” to the sun, campfire lighting, singing etc (this year without a strict program).
Guests are welcome to arrive earlier and help to set up, as well as to stay until noon the following day.
Registration and payment online only. Space is limited.
Entrance donations: $5 per adult, $20 for parking (limited number), 5$ for a tent site. Tickets:
Wear your Latvian national costumes if you wish (or something with a Latvian twist, remembering that the night will be cold) and meadow appropriate footwear.
(There will be portable WCs, campfire, food tables, disposable plates/utensils provided.)
Suggested to bring:
* Flowers and/or foliage for the crowns.
* One main dish, one dessert and drinks, enough for yourself, but it will be shared (ready to serve).
* Blanket or folding chairs to sit on.
* Tent and other sleeping gear.
* Candles on batteries and flashlights.
