Filmas “Vai viegli būt jaunam” izrāde - 27. aprīlī 6:30pm

Ziemeļkalifornijas Latviešu biedrība ielūdz Tevi uz kinovakaru Sanfrancisko Latviešu namā!

Šis ir pirmais pasākums no pasākumu cikla, kurā tiks demonstrētas Latvijā veidotas filmas ar mērķi popularizēt Latviešu kinokultūru un veicināt kopienas saliedētību.

Mīļi aicināti arī ģimenes locekļi un draugi, kas nerunā latviski - filma tiks demonstrēta latviešu valodā ar subtitriem angļu valodā.

Par filmu: "Vai viegli būt jaunam?" (1986) ir laikmetīga dokumentālā filma par jauniešiem, kas tiek aizturēti un tiesāti "paraugprāvā" par vilciena demolēšanu pēc rokkoncerta apmeklējuma.

Šī filma uzņemta laikā, kad Latvijā ienāca atmodas gars un jauniešu vidū, kā protests pret visu sabiedrībā notiekošo, strauji izplatījās panku kultūra.

Jaunieši atklāti izstāsta režisoram savu viedokli par tiesas prāvu un sabiedrību kopumā. Interesants ir arī jauniešu skats uz nākotni no ļoti dažādo varoņu personīgās perspektīvas. Jauniešos ir manāma degsme un enerģija mainīt šo pasauli.

Režisora Jura Podnieka filma ieguva fenomenālu popularitāti sabiedībā un ir saistoša jebkurai vecuma grupai. Uz doto brīdi filmai publicēti divi turpinājumi - par filmas varoņu dzīvi pēc 10 un 20 gadiem. Šogad publicēta arī dokumentālā filma par pašu režisoru un viņa skatījumu.

You are cordially invited to the movie night hosted by the Northern California Latvian Association, at the Latvian house in San Francisco!

This is the first event of the event cycle screening Latvian movies, aiming at promoting Latvian movie culture and fostering the bonds within the local Latvian society.

Non-latvian family members and friends are more than welcome as well! The movie will be screened in Latvian with english subtitles.

About the movie: "Is it easy to be young?" (Vai viegli būt jaunam? 1986) is a documentary on teenagers who got arrested for a mass riot in a train after a rock concert.

These guys were sent to trial demonstrating the power of the government in finding and punishing the guilty parties.

The movie was shot during the emergence of Latvian Awakening from the Soviet Union as well as the spread in popularity of punk culture among young people as a protest to everything in and about the society.

All of the characters are very open in expressing their opinions about the trial and society in general. Each of them also shares their vision of the future based on their diverse characteristics. They all are very passionate and full of energy to change this world.

The movie by Juris Podnieks has gained a phenomenal popularity in the society and captures the attention of any age group. Currently, there are two sequentials reflecting on the movie characters' life after 10 and 20 years.

A new documentary on the director's life and his views has also been published this year.
